New Pennies - US Minting- Canada Scraping

In case ya’ll weren’t aware the US is Minting a New Penny honouring (honoring) Abe Lincoln. It is the pennies first redesign in 50 years.
While the US is thinking about minting a New Penny the other side of the border is thinking about scraping it.
Makes you wonder doesn’t it?? Why would one country mint it and the other get rid of it.
The Star gives good common sense to reasons why.

Why would the US mint a new coin when we are looking to dispose of it.
I think (my view only) it should be gotten rid of, and while I am it. Go back to paper money. They switched out $1 and $2 bills to coins. Now try carrying a purse or a bag with all that spare change.

and the dollar as both worthless

Take a class or something, your writing style sucks.
I think that they should scrap the penny and round every transaction to the nearest nickel. Or better yet do away with cents entirely, they don’t fit in mens wallets, and never have.
That being said, I think if you saved up a jar full of pennies and melted them down for the copper, someday copper could be worth so much it might be worth hanging onto pennies? Really we should be a paperless society anyway, why waste tree’s.
Surely we can become a cashless society, I barely ever walk around with cash as it is. People could be paid with Visa/Mastercards in the amount of their checks, or their checks can directly deposit and refill their existing cards. We really don’t need paper money anymore in the 21st century.

Dragon Blogger: My hubby squeaks about the coinage all the time. I keep telling him to buy a purse LOL or a pouch to wear around his waist.
Saving pennies and that is actually a good idea.
Not sure I agree with Credit card system though We already have direct deposit so it helps some
