Sink or Swim

I have to be the frist to admit that fishing is more than just a sport with me. It is a passion for me. I could be on the water every day if it is nice outside. Even in winter.
This article is all JD’s fault. He had the nerve to ask 3 questions at the bottom of his post so I decided to respond to last one he posted. Yes to see what he wrote about you will have to spin off to JD’s blog to have a read.
I always had a habit of leaving notes on the kitchen table letting hubby know that I had gone fishing. Exactly where, when I left and my expected time back. If I am not back come looking for me.
It was the perfect day, not a cloud in the sky and besides my son had given me a new pair of bib hip waders.
Oh you think the gift is weird right?? Wrong. I love my fishing gear and always want new tackle or gear. I don’t want jewelry or flowers or any of the things other women want. I want fishing gear.
At any rate I loaded up my gear, light rod and line for this day and headed down the road. Knew exactly where I wanted to go. Was heading up a small creek where I knew there was a waterfall and a deep pool just below it. With the hip waders I could get in closer and catch me some gorgeous speckle trout.
Was wading towards the fall with spinng gear in hand, my small net attached to my waders. Is anyone out there aware how slippery those rocks, stones and rubble are?
Were you also aware that the boots of the waders float?? That is right. So you already know what is coming to me next.
I was edging slowly over a boulder, getting closer all the time to the position I wanted to be in. Then all Hell breaks loose I slipped and went under water. Those stupid boots came to surface in a split second and my head went under.
Pretty picture it ain’t. Had to drop my rod and reel. Fight my way to surface for air. Every tried to crawl out water filled waders. I’m telling you I didn’t for one minute think I was going to make it. Was running short of air fast and starting seeing stars before my eyes.
Since I am writing this you know I survived.
I also had to go back into the water to fetch my rod and reel.
My hubby made me promise never to use the hip waders again unless he/ or someone around to save my sorry ass.
No fish for supper and I looked like a drowned rat.
So JD was it Grave or Mortal danger. I think so
What do you think?
Can you relate to any of this?
Got your own story?
Blog about it and let me know

Yes, definitely grave and mortal danger
suprised no fish wandered into your waders ….
JDs last blog post..The unbearable lightness of being fishing
Surprised that I actually made it out alive. LOL
Fish in my waders would have been a reel(real) bonus)
Thanks for popping by JD
WendyFs last blog post..Democrat or Republican, I think you’ll get a kick out of this!
Great post. I made my son read it as he’s always giving me grief when I tell him not to go out wading a stream alone.
Jon Vs last blog post..Now That’s What I’m Talking About
